Negotiations continue on sale of land adjacent to Bardak Siah Palace

The Bushehr Justice Department plans to purchase the land adjacent to the Bardak Siah Palace in order to better maintain the ruins of the Achaemenid era palace built by Darius the Great.

Bardak Siah is located near the city of Borazjan in Iran’s southern province of Bushehr. Built during the Achaemenids’ zenith, the palace had been destroyed by fire in a war.

Some experts believe that nearby agricultural activities such as irrigation and farming could cause serious damage to the ancient monument.

The Bushehr Justice Department has offered to pay 10,000 rials ($1.11) per meter but the landowners are asking for 50,000 rials ($5.55) per meter.

Khalil Razeh of the Dorudgah Village Council is scheduled to hold discussions with the director of the Bushehr Cultural Heritage Department in the near future in order to resolve the matter.
